Application of the Critical Theory

Four New Poisons -- In our food industries' quest for greater profits and, at the same time, cheaper food material to prepackage for us, the food industry has unwittingly injected 4 new poisons into the food supply, those being: (1) high-fructose corn syrup (a.k.a. HFCS), (2) soy bean oil, (3) lecithin (which is derived from milk or soy beans thru a process using hexane or acetone (a.k.a. nail polish remover)), and (4) unneeded milk. You can find high-fructose corn syrup in most soda pop and bread. Soy bean oil, over the last 10 years, is being used to replace more expensive oils (like old fashion vegetable oil) in food preparation and production. Lecithin, a emulsifier and food lubricant, is found in nearly all hot dogs, energy/breakfast bars, and processed sandwich meat. And finally, milk is being injected into things that normally do not contain milk, in order to increase the amount of vitamin D in a food that never had any in the first place (like turkey sandwich meat). Milk is also being injected into hot dogs. Milk injection is really bad for those who are lactose intolerant, which is about 1 in 6 Americans. If these facts are unbelievable, read your food labels!!!

To put it sociologically, the manifest function (see Merton) of injecting high-fructose corn syrup, soy bean oil, lecthin, and milk into US food products is to (a) increase corporate profits, (b) decrease corporate cost, and (c) calming hysterical mothers who think their children are not getting enough vitamin D. By the same token, the latent functions of injecting these poisons into the US food supply, is the increase in the number of people who are (1) fat, (2) have frequent bouts with diarrhea, (3) who are constantly fighting dehydration (due to the diarrhea, since their lower GI is being hindered from absorbing water), and (4) are lethargic, both physically and mentally, since most of their energy is spent on recovering from being poisoned by the food they ate.

But you don't have to take my word for it, start investigating this matter for yourself. Here are a few things to read to get you started:

Help bring about a more just, humane, rational, and reconciled society by boycotting foods with high-fructose corn syrup, soy bean oil, lecthin, and/or unneeded milk. Write your favorite corporate food supplier and tell them that you are no longer buying or eating their food products because they giving you the 'shits,' due to the fake sugar, fake oil, and the food lubricants they use to make their products. And for those of you who are couch potatoes, just print this page and mail it to your favorite food company.
